David Ono is the anchor for ABC7 Eyewitness News at 4pm and 6pm, the top-rated newscasts in all of Los Angeles. He also anchors Eyewitness News on KDOC-TV at 7pm.

David joined ABC7 in 1996 and during that time has witnessed history worldwide, covering Hurricane Katrina, Haiti's earthquake, and Japan's tsunami. He traveled across Europe and Asia chronicling brave acts of the Nisei soldier from World War II.

David has attended two Royal Weddings, Prince William’s in London in 2011 and Prince Harry’s in Windsor in 2018. He’s tracked drug runners through Central America and reported live from Boston after the tragic marathon bombing. He’s covered terrorism from Paris not only in 2015 as the historic city was cripple with fear, but also in 2002 after a plot was foiled to bring down the Eiffel Tower.

David has trained with the FBI, the elite Los Angeles Sheriff’s SWAT team, ICE, and the Los Angeles Port Police. Three times President Obama has invited him to the White House. Twice for exclusive one on one interviews, and once to make a speech about inclusion in America. David has extensively covered the Pope. He witnessed white smoke at the Vatican twice - in 2005 for the selection of Pope Benedict the 16th and 2013 for the selection of Pope Francis. He also covered Francis’s historic visit to the United States in 2015 and his visit to Mexico in 2016.

David has produced multiple award-winning documentaries, two of which have made their way to the Smithsonian Institution.

David has won 6 Edward R. Murrow awards, 24 Emmys, 2 RTDNA National Unity Awards, 6 AAJA National Journalism Awards, and was honored with the Distinguished Journalist Award by the Society of Professional Journalists.

Dr. Lucy Jones is the founder of the Dr. Lucy Jones Center for Science and Society, with a mission to foster the understanding and application of scientific information in the creation of more resilient communities. She is the author of the book, The Big Ones (Doubleday, April 2018) and is also a Research Associate at the Seismological Laboratory of Caltech, a post she has held since 1984. Working with both the public and private sectors, Dr. Jones seeks to increase communities’ ability to adapt and be resilient to the dynamic changes of the world around them. The aim is to understand and communicate where the greatest vulnerabilities lie and what actions can be taken to reduce the risk that are the most cost-effective. With a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Language and Literature from Brown University and a Ph.D. in Geophysics from MIT, Dr. Jones has been active in earthquake research for decades, furthering earthquake risk reduction through seismological research and integrated disaster scenarios.

Los Angeles County Fire Chief Daryl L. Osby serves as the ninth Fire Chief of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.  With an education in business and executive management and a progressive outlook towards the future, Fire Chief Osby strives to ensure the Department maintains its acclaimed reputation through continual sharing of best practices with fellow fire agencies as well as creating an inclusive work environment representative of the communities it serves.  As head of one of the largest emergency service agencies in the world, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Osby oversees the delivery of fire suppression and life safety services to more than 4.1 million residents and commercial businesses in 59 cities, along 72 miles of coastline, and all unincorporated areas within the County’s 2,300-square-miles.  In addition, the Department provides health hazardous materials and forestry services throughout the County.

Kimiaki Toda is a Mayor of Ofunato City, Iwate prefecture, Japan.  Mayor Toda is from Sanriku-cho, Yoshihama district, Ofunato City.  After graduating from the Department of Architecture, School of Engineering, Tohoku University, he joined Shimizu Corporation. At Shimizu, with the company’s support, he studied for one year in the United States at Harvard University.  Afterwards, he held the role of Sales Office Manager at their Shanghai Office, followed by positions as Sales Office Manager at their Beijing Representative Office, and last at their Hong Kong Office.  He left the company in 2006.  He was first elected mayor of Ofunato City in 2010 and is currently serving his third term.

Deputy Chief Larry Collins currently serves in the Special Operations and Hazardous Materials Section, for the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) Fire and Rescue Division.   He is the program manager for California’s Urban Search & Rescue Unit, which includes the planning and preparedness for natural and manmade disasters.  Deputy Chief Collins has held many roles during his 3+ decades career with OES; and prior to that, with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.  In his role as Battalion Chief with the LACoFD, he served as Task Force Leader and Search Manager covering local, state, national and international disasters.  Of the many rescue missions that he led during his tenure in this unit, one was in Japan following the March 2011 Great East Japan Earthquakes and Tsunami.

Kevin McGowan County of Los Angeles, Chief Executive Office of Emergency Management Kevin McGowan serves as the Director of the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management. Leading an all-hazards emergency management program for Los Angeles County, Mr. McGowan is responsible for countywide emergency management preparedness, planning, coordination, training, response, and recovery efforts. A native of Southern California, Mr. McGowan holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Pepperdine University. Mr. McGowan has attended a variety of emergency management educational programs, to include Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Emergency Management Executive Academy, the Naval Post Graduate School’s Center for Homeland Defense and Security’s Executive Leaders Program, and Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government Leadership in Crises. Mr. McGowan most recently served as the Director of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services. During his tenure with Ventura County, Mr. McGowan led emergency management preparedness, response, and recovery efforts for multiple presidential major disaster declarations and for numerous natural, technological, and human caused disasters such as wildland fires, debris flows, severe winter storms, a mass fatality shooting and hazardous materials events. Mr. McGowan has also served as an US Army infantry officer and a special projects manager for the Santa Monica Police Department.

Masako Unoura is the President and Founder of the Love to Nippon Project, a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, California.  For ten years, her team of volunteers has organized annual commemoration events as well as educational platforms to share their mission.

Mrs. Unoura was born in Tokyo, growing up in Ofunato City, Iwate as a child.  After marrying Ted Tokio Tanaka, she moved to Marina Del Rey, California in 2006.

After graduating from International Christian University (ICU) in Tokyo, Mrs. Unoura’s career at both a private and a government affiliated institution led her to move to Kyoto where she worked for the URASENKE Foundation for seven years.

In 1994, Mrs. Unoura was invited to work at the United Nations University, an UN think tank in Tokyo to establish the “Zero Emission” Research Initiative (UNU/ZERI).  She became a founding member of UNU/ZERI and was instrumental in promoting environmental issues throughout Japan and abroad over ten years. Additionally, she was appointed by the Japanese Government to work with and advise the executive planning committee of the 2005 World Exposition in Japan.  As an Environmental Producer, she managed the environmental and technology policies and the implementations for the EXPO.

On March 11, 2011, Mrs. Unoura was in Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture when she survived the Great East Japan Earthquakes and Tsunami. Using her traumatic experience as a backbone, she established the Love to Nippon Project to promote awareness of natural disasters.
